Cosmos Seeds for Sale

Cosmos sulphureus

Cosmos sulphureus, or the orange Cosmos. These are seeds collected from my own 2026 garden, meant for planting in 2027 or 2028. I’m selling some on my website as a trial to see how they do. Packets of approximately 25 seeds including shipping in a first-class USPS envelope with printed instructions is $5 to US addresses only.

If you want to buy seeds, please CashApp $5 to $Frogontheporch and send me your mailing address.

These plants are easy to grow and nearly impossible to kill. They can be used as cut flowers, pressed flowers, dried flowers, or they can have long-lasting ink extracted from them relatively easily in tones of oranges, yellows, and browns. I paint and draw with this ink, but some people use it to dye yarn or fabric.

If you don’t have $5 and want seeds for free, let me know and I will probably send you some. Or, if you want to donate more than $5, by all means feel free to support my art and my gardening, which obviously are connected.

Below are some pictures showing why I love these plants so much.

I cannot count the number of butterflies that these plants attract. Every shape, size, and color.

Their typical color is that of an orange peel. Butt they range in shade from more yellow to deeper orange, just like the citrus fruit.

The bright orange cannot be ignored, even on a cloudy day.

Pressed flowers. You can arrange these in particular ways or just put them between the pages of a book and once dry they will keep their color for years.

Simmering dried flowers in order to make ink.

In late summer once nights begin getting cooler, the color often deepens.

Detail of artwork using the ink from these flowers. The watercolor paper has been dyed then splattered, then the seedheads drawn on using a small brush and gone over in pens.

Cut flowers. These can be arranged in many different ways. They also look gorgeous beside white flowers.

Seed packet I’ll send you. Kept cool and dry, these seeds will stay viable for at least 6 years.
