Small Canvas Panels

I bought these 4 inch by 6 inch canvas panels at Dollar Tree back when things actually cost a dollar. They have a lot of “tooth” or texture to them, reflecting the fact that they are very cheaply made. Some painters love this, and others shy away from it. But I’m one of those people who appreciates it. Seeing the coarseness of the small canvas panels in the painting is a distinct look that can create a slightly less sharp final image. These small panels can be very quick to paint–8 or 10 minutes–or they can take days just like a larger piece. I have more than I remember, but presented here are a few of them.

Bird on the power line.
Killdeer plover thing.
Solenodons sing for breakfast.
Inside the cave. You can see here how the coarser texture of the panel attracts scuffs more easily.
