A series of red flowers done in an illustrative style with acrylics and liner pens, all of which I have grown over the years, either in the garden or as houseplants. Red flowers are overall more likely to be pollinated by birds, who tend to see red and orange tones better than insects do.
The goal here is to add at least a few more throughout 2026. All are done on 8 x 10 multimedia paper.

I’ve read that this plant has had medicinal or folk uses for at least 50,000 years.Sturt’s desert pea, a native of Australia.Zinnias, one of the most common garden flowers.Delosperma, or ice plants.Gasteria. I’ve had the same Gasteria plant for about 10 years.Seed Dahlia, these are part of the “Bishop’s Children” series.Sprekelia, a relative of the holiday Amaryllis.Pardancanda, or blackberry lilies, are in fact a type of Iris.Clarkia, an annual I first grew from a wildflower mix.Portulaca, or moss rose.Breadseed poppies.Tigridia. The Dollar Tree used to sell these.Schlumbergera hybrid, or Christmas cactus.Dermatobotrys, a houseplant from Madagascar.
