My name is Jack. I was born in the 1980s in Appalachia. My artistic inspirations include Séraphine de Senlis, Louis Wain, Minnie Evans, Maria Primachenko, Philip Taaffe, Georgia O’Keeffe, Mose Tolliver, Lauri Lipton, Anna Zemánková, Paul Klee, as well as any artists who portray what it is like to live with a chronic illness or disability including Frida Kahlo, plus those who can capture ideas in an inventive and memorable way that feels new when you encounter it, such as Remedios Varo and Salvador Dalí. I have no formal art training although I have been accepted into shows and know a bit about that world.. Folk art is real art.

Outside of the art world, my interests include nonduality, Appalachia (the mountains, their people, and their wildlife), autoimmune diseases, disability/accessibility advocacy which means making things fair for people with disabilities, gardening, civil rights around the world, social work, mental health, and vegetarianism. Yes, I’m every bit as boring as all that sounds!
